Chicken math. 🐥 We started with 4 “big girls” (4 months old), 4 “teenagers” (2-months old) and 4 one-week old chicks from a sweet lady across town. We lost one baby the first night, added 4 more from tractor supply on a whim one month later, lost another one of those babies, and have at least one suspected roo, whom we’ll probably have to rehome. Are we crazy? Is this chicken math? 🧮 I’d also like to note that Dolly says we’re farmers now since we have all these chickens 🐓💕👩🏼‍🌾

A late night brain dump journal entry, so bear wit A late night brain dump journal entry, so bear with me. (unrelated: I had to lookup if it’s “bare” or “bear” and indeed, it’s a 🧸)

We had friends in town visiting last weekend, which was so good for my soul. I finished up my job at our old church this week & it feels like a door has closed. But not in a relief sort of way, more like a bittersweet nostalgia. Like I’m being replaced in a way, and we’re just “the friends who moved away” while everyone else’s lives carry on. Like our world stopped and has officially started over here in SC.

I was talking with a new friend at the park this morning about how intentional we have to be with our friendships. When we first moved to FL, it was so easy. We joined a church and immediately found our people. They had the same values & beliefs as us. They parented similarly and had kids around the same age as us. We saw them almost every day at church, bible studies, staff meetings, play dates & double dates. But I ended up feeling like we were in this bubble and not truly fulfilling our call to “go and make disciples.” (Matt. 28:19)

Something a friend reminded me of at our going away party was that we weren’t just leaving, but being sent out on mission. Through this move, I’ve constantly been in prayer for the Lord to surround us with like-minded friends, but also those who may think or believe differently than us, so that we may have more opportunities to evangelize. That we would find our community who will rally and support us, but also that God would use our family & home as a vessel to share the Good News. 🫶🏻

I don’t know why I’m sharing all of this — maybe you’ve moved recently or are planning to soon. Maybe you too feel like you’re in a bubble (hello, Bible Belt 🤪) and the holy spirit is giving you a little nudge to invite your non-believing neighbors over. Whatever the reason, I’m confident in the Lord’s placement of specific people in my life who have impacted me & my family just as much as we have them, and I’m excited & expectant to see how he continues to do so in our new town. 💗

What did the horse say when it fell? 🐴 Help! I’ve fallen and I can’t giddy-up 🤪

When Lainey was first learning to walk, she would take a few steps before falling face-first into my arms… over & over. It’s made me think about how easily she places complete trust in me, and how we can do the same with God.

It’s easy to fear the unknown, and with the brokenness in our world, to fear the challenges our kids will grow up with, but we can also rest in knowing that the future is in God’s hands.

He has equipped us and will equip our children to slay the giants of our generation. Lay your fears & anxieties down at the foot of the cross, and put your hope in the strength of Jesus to carry you through all of the tomorrows. 🫶🏻

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” — Matthew 6:34
