Choose Forgiveness

A while back I received a call from someone I hadn’t spoken to in three years. Before I picked up the phone, I tried to think of a reason…

You know those days when you just wake up feeling You know those days when you just wake up feeling discouraged? Even though we’ve been getting some cooler fall mornings 🍂 we decided to go play in the river. I don’t know if it was the sound of the water flowing, the girls happily splashing, the worship music, or the fact that I was truly at rest, but it was exactly what my heart needed. I challenge you to take some time today to truly rest, refresh & recharge to prepare yourself to be a better wife, momma & friend 🫶🏻
Lainey’s comfort item of the week: this tiny pum Lainey’s comfort item of the week: this tiny pumpkin. It sleeps with her, rides in her car seat, sits at the kitchen table, etc.

A few weeks ago it was a snot wipe - not so she could use it, just to hold in her hand 24/7. And last week? A lime 🤣

This got me thinking about how often we find comfort in the things of this world. I’ll never forget a friend’s funeral where multiple people stood up and shared how she steadily fixed her eyes on Jesus through all the hospital visits & treatments she had been going through. She was so excited to be HOME in heaven someday.

We hear all these stories of heaven that make it seem like a fantasy world, which makes it easy to rely on the tangible things here on earth. But what if we lived differently? What if we relied on God to fully satisfy us?

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:19-21

If only I could live like that woman; to focus solely on God and His kingdom, not on the worldly kingdom I’ve built up for myself. Our life here on earth is so frivolous compared to the eternal life Jesus has prepared for us. Someday we will be reunited with Him in our true home! 🤍

Side note: what’s the strangest thing your toddler has formed an emotional attachment to? 🤪

I can’t even count the number of times I’ve ru I can’t even count the number of times I’ve rushed through my day, only to skim through whatever passage in the Bible I’m at and squeeze in a quick prayer. It’s easy to walk through the steps without my heart always being there.

I want to find the desire to take time to sit and rest at His feet when I’m feeling rushed.

I want to find the desire to learn from Him and listen to Him when times are tough.

Honestly, when I’m in the middle of those moments, the last thing I want to do is open up my bible... but is it worth it? Always. And he’s worked through experiences where I’ve felt hopeless, which is why I’ll continue to show up.

God shows up for us in every moment, the good & the bad, and invites us to meet him there.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 🤍
fun fall fridays at the farmers market + finally f fun fall fridays at the farmers market + finally feeling the fall weather 💗🎃💛🍂🧡🌻 (plus a wild goose chase to hunt down some raw milk) 🫠

What are your favorite fall activities?!
You put your cute rain jacket on & dance in it. ☔️

Okay, I know. Easier said than done. It’s maybe worth a shot, though. 🤷‍♀️

The number of days we have on earth is too short to even consider wallowing in the rain when it comes.

There are going to be hard days.
There are going to be heavy days.
We are going to get hurt.
Things aren’t always going to go how we planned, and that’s just the reality.

I want to encourage you to live with sunshine in your heart even when it gets rainy. Give grace to others AND yourself. Don’t neglect how you feel, but also — don’t get stuck in that place.

I dare you to put your boots on, go outside and dance. Ain’t nobody raining on your parade!!! 👏🏻
We as parents cannot be our children’s savior. 👇🏻

We’ve talked about ways to open up the fencing around our coop to let the chickens free range safely, but in the meantime, the girls and I swing the door open and let them loose while my mind runs a million miles a minute thinking of everything that could go wrong — will they get eaten by a fox? a snake? a hawk? our cat? the dogs? What if they wander into the woods and never come back? Then we quickly wrangle them back inside before they scatter too much 🫣😂

It made me think of all the fears I have in raising our girls. We can do our best to provide a safe & nurturing environment and protect them as best as we can, but at the end of the day, God is the one who does all the saving.

This is where we can all take a deep sigh of relief, because our children's salvation is NOT contingent on our faithfulness. His plan will prevail, no matter our sins, because He always works for our good & His glory. 🙌🏻
