3 Month Update + What I Did vs. Didn’t Use | Meekly Loving by Sydney Meek

I can’t believe Lainey Rae is now THREE months old! Somehow it feels like she was just born yesterday, but has also been a part of our family forever. She is learning her voice, gives the sweetest smiles (and giggles!) and can roll from front to back. I thought I was lucky to have both girls’ birthdays only a month apart so I would be able to reuse all the same clothes in the right seasons, but Lainey bug is so much bigger than Dolly was  —  she is already in 6 month clothing! It has been so much fun living life as a family of four, and I can’t wait to experience even more of her “firsts” as she continues to grow!

Every month, I share what a typical “day in the life” looks like on my Instagram stories, but I thought I would share a rough schedule here too. I follow an eat, play, sleep routine with Lainey throughout the day (meaning she wakes up to eat, has a wake/play window, then takes a nap, repeat) so it mostly just depends on when she wakes up and how long she naps for!

DAILY SCHEDULE

7:30 both girls wake up, feed Lainey
8:00 get everyone ready, breakfast, etc.
9:30-10:30 nap #1 – we’re usually out of the house during this one for church, errands, a play date, or playing outside
10:30 Lainey eats, then we usually do Dolly’s school if we’re home
11:30 lunch time
12:30-1:30 nap #2 while I put Dolly down for her nap and get some work started
1:30 Lainey wakes up to eat, then she will hang out while I work and usually go back to sleep pretty quickly
2:30-3:30 nap #3
3:30 both girls wake up & Lainey eats. Then Mason gets home around this time so we’ll play outside if it’s not raining
5:30-6:00 nap #4 while we eat dinner, then I will feed her one more time
7:00-7:30 bath and bedtime for Lainey while daddy & Dolly get one-on-one time7:30-8:00 bath and bedtime for Dolly

Because I know how daunting it can be to be a first-time mom wondering when or if her baby should be sleeping through the night, for full transparency: Lainey still wakes up 1-2 times to eat. Looking back, Dolly slept 8 hours straight at 8 weeks old, and 12 hours by the time she was 3 months, but we were also giving her a full bottle every night. I have a feeling that helped her to make longer stretches. Regardless, don’t compare your baby to someone else’s OR even another one of your children, like in my case. 😉

In Dolly’s 3 month update blog post I shared newborn must-haves, so I thought it would be fun to share the things I did vs. did not use this time around. I feel like I’ve learned that minimalism is best as a second-time-mom. 🙂

5 THINGS I USED:

Solly baby wraps
Baby Delight bouncer
Snuggle Me Organic Lounger
NatureBond silicone pump
Portable sound machine

5 THINGS I DIDN’T USE:

Boppy Pillow for nursing – I DO use it for tummy time
Cute pacifiers (like these FRIGG ones) – Lainey didn’t like them
Diaper paste (coconut oil & baby powder/cornstarch works best)
Flower bath seat (honestly, this one is so much better)
Car seat/nursing cover

Thanks for reading! If you have little ones, let me know what your newborn must-haves were!
