Happy New Year!!! I hope y’all had a fun and safe New Year celebration, and that you’re ready to take on 2019 by storm. The transition from one year to the next always makes me feel so refreshed; like I’m turning the page into a new chapter of my life. It’s encouraging for me to look back on the previous year and see what trials and blessings God has brought me through, then come up with ways to sharpen myself in the upcoming year.

Something I realized I need to work on is not wishing away the present — or hoping the future would come quicker. Throughout 2017, I was so excited and ready to graduate college and be done with school forever (or at least for now, who knows what the future looks like). Then in 2018, I couldn’t wait for my husband to be done with school so that we could finally be a “normal” couple with 9-5 schedules, evenings off, and no homework or studying to burden us.

Even in the past few months, I’ve still continued to catch myself longing for our “next step”, whatever that may be — whether graduating, traveling, packing up and moving, or having a baby. I realized that I’m constantly blinding and robbing myself of the precious time I have now.

“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24

My word for 2019 is PRESENT.

I want to really enjoy where God has me right now, in my current state, rather than constantly longing for the future.

I want to be on my phone less.
I want to fully invest in my marriage.
I want to strengthen my walk with Jesus.
I want to learn new things on our upcoming travels.
I want to grow in every way I can during this pregnancy.
I want to make the next place we live feel like our new “home.”
I want to soak up every minute with our sweet baby this summer.
I want to act on things immediately, instead of waiting for the perfect moment.
I want to be delighted with the time God has given me today, because I’ll never get it back.

I WANT TO BE PRESENT.
