Moms – do not believe the lie that you’re too busy to read your Bible. Scripture is for you in every season. Don’t miss out on reading God’s word while raising little children, because sometimes that’s when we need it the most.
Here are 10 practical ways to prioritize scripture as a busy mom.
- Download the Bible app and start a reading plan to replace doom scrolling on your phone. Go ahead and check how much time you spend on social media, I’m sure you can shave some off and dedicate it to scripture reading instead. The plans don’t have to be long, I’d start with a 10-day one!
- Keep your Bible open on your kitchen counter or the “center” of your home or wherever you spend the most time so that it’s easily accessible.
- Join a Bible study like Community Bible Study or Bible Study Fellowship that provides childcare, community, and accountability.
- Create a busy bin with some books or activities for your kids to play with while you read.
- Open your Bible while eating breakfast. Read to your kids and share what God is teaching you.
- Play the audio version of the Bible while getting ready in the morning, doing the dishes, or driving in the car.
- Find pockets of time whether it’s in the morning before your kids wake up, after a meal, during a nap or extracurricular activity, or after bedtime to read your Bible.
- Write scripture on the shower walls or bathroom mirror with dry erase markers, or put sticky notes on the fridge or your car for meditation.
- Make it a habit to recite scripture while folding laundry or during your kids’ bedtime routine.
- While it can be challenging to have an elaborate quiet time alone every morning, it may look like the photo above with a baby on your lap. I want to encourage you to do it anyway.
Is there anything else you would add? I’d love to hear how you incorporate scripture into your everyday life as a busy mama!
