If you’re reading this, you probably already saw that baby Waylon has joined us! You can read his birth story here. Here are the links for my first and second trimester updates too, if you want to play catch-up. I was originally thinking I would share how I was preparing for labor/birth at the end of this post, but my third trimester was cut a little short because of his surprise arrival at 37 weeks, so I never got around to doing any preparing! Because of that, this post will be pretty short, so let’s cut to the chase.
WEEKLY UPDATES
WEEK 28:
Back pain is unbearable some days, so I scheduled chiropractor appointments (spoiler: they helped IMMENSELY)
I’m having lots of contractions, mostly when I find myself doing too much
WEEK 29:
I passed my glucose test! I shared an Instagram post here on the harmful ingredients in the standard glucola drink and what I opted to use instead.
Baby’s kicks and movements are getting painful
WEEK 30:
I’m feeling SO heavy – it’s hard to do much at the end of the day
Had my first chiropractor appointments, and OOF they were painful
Baby is head down! My pelvis is just a little lopsided, so I’ll be going back to the chiro weekly to help get everything aligned and ready for birth
WEEK 31:
Wow, my sciatic pain is nearly gone and my back is feeling much better.
My body also continues to remind me when I’ve pulled too many weeds for the day
WEEK 32:
Had my follow-up ultrasound – my placenta and baby’s kidneys checked out good! I have one point higher than “normal range” of amniotic fluid (AFI of 26) so I have to come back for weekly tests. I had polyhydramnios when I was pregnant with Dolly, so I’m not too worried about the risks.
Baby is still head down but feeling LOW, so lots of lightening crotch happening lately
WEEK 33:
Restless leg syndrome at night, but magnesium spray has been helpful for that
Bursts of energy/motivation some days (finally!!)
WEEK 34:
My iron levels are low, so my midwife is helping me through diet/supplements to raise it.
My fluid level is also still high
Heartburn has been so bad at night that it wakes me up
WEEK 35:
Everyone (my chiro, midwife, and OB/ultrasound techs) has been saying baby is in the perfect position
Had more energy this week and my back pain is nearly gone!
WEEK 36:
Still high fluid (at a 39 now) and told to transfer care to high risk doctors at maternal fetal medicine
I also had a LOT of energy again, so we’ve been going for walks and doing more work in the garden
And feeling very heavy, my body feels like it’s at maximum capacity
WEEK 37:
Started having back labor pains on 8/5, which I had a couple weeks before going into labor with Lainey too.
My fluid level is the same, but the OB on rotation this week said he thought there was no need for me to be induced until 39 weeks – yay!
Having pelvic pain
SO thirsty, I’ve been drinking a ton of water
Went into labor on 8/11!
Thanks for following along with this pregnancy! Here’s the link for Waylon’s birth story if you haven’t read it yet – God did some pretty amazing things. I’ll put together a postpartum must-have post soon!
